History

Freshwater Church began with a vision for an evangelical, Bible-believing church on St John.

Many local people had been praying for a new church, and in 2005, Pastor Terry Lansdale and his wife, Marta, set foot on St. John while on vacation.

They instantly felt a connection in a way only God could orchestrate. The Lansdales returned frequently in the ensuing years and developed a relationship with several local believers. All began praying and together they caught a vision for Freshwater Church.

In 2013, with training and backing of the North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention, the Lansdales, their son and his wife moved to St John. Freshwater Church started as a home Bible study and quickly grew to include a Sunday worship service at the beach.

Today, Freshwater Church continues to meet every Sunday at Hawksnest Beach, in addition to weekly Bible studies, discipleship courses, and various outreach/service activities in the community.
