Many Moving Parts
“12 For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ. 13 For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit. 14 For in fact the body is not one member but many.” 1 Corinthians 12:12-14
I don’t think I’ve ever understood what Paul was sharing here with the Corinthians more than I do now as a result of our summer missions. You may have noticed that we’ve had many visitors this summer volunteering and worshiping alongside us here in the Virgin Islands. I am in awe of the dozens of stories I’ve heard from people who were so loosely familiar with the Virgin Islands, yet here they are serving with us and meeting needs in response to God’s calling. What a testament to how each Christian makes up ONE body of Christ, serving across geographical and cultural boundaries sharing the gospel.
Last week was a week of goodbyes to our summer interns. Terry and Marta hosted a going away party for Austin, Jeremiah, Britton, and Shannon at their home, and we ate as a church family and reminisced about their months on island.Terry’s burgers and Marta’s chocolate cake were the perfect send-off!At church last Sunday each of the interns shared a brief testimony with the church about their experiences on island and working with Freshwater. Each of them have written a testimony to share as well which will be posted individually this week.

It’s a miraculous occurrence when God pulls together his individual people from all parts of the world and walks of life together in one place as His church to answer the prayers of His people and to reach the lost according to their unique needs. Just imagine a family restored, hope delivered, or a soul saved for eternity because of the response of one of these people to come and love on an island community!
Please join us in performing simple acts of love for the people around us: inviting someone to church, playing with a child, cooking for friends or family, or any unique way to demonstrate the love of Christ to someone in your life. And please continue to pray for the church: Freshwater Church, Graceview Baptist Church, your church, the many moving parts of the body of Christ.
In His Service,
